The owners ripped out their old stone fireplace and were planning to install a new gaz stove. What they hadn't planned on, was how to finish the space.
While the rest of the home was well-appointed and well put together, the living room felt dated & disjointed. To bring it all-together, we removed the tile floor edging, lightened the wood floors, added a simple yet striking fireplace with a custom wraparound media unit and matching shelves.
We removed a redundant set of stairs from behind the couch and closed it in with a wall-to-wall cabinet, which enabled us to push back the couch and open up the seating space.
Our second mandate was to declutter the front entrance but make it stylish and kid-friendly. So we designed a floor-to-ceiling locker-style cabinet (one for each child) and added a comfy storage seat.
The owners are thrilled with the results and love the look & functionality of both spaces.
