The owners put a huge extension onto their old family cottage, but their architect had neglected to work in an area for the fireplace. So they contact us to evaluate the space and come up with a solution.
Given the jewel of the home was its incredible view of the lake, we decided to turn the room around and move the sitting area to the back wall to face the lake.
We pushed the fireplace flush against the wall with a bump-out to maximize space and installed oversize sliding doors, which perfectly framed the view.
For the finishings, we wanted to draw in elements from around the cottage and chose a similar stone for the fireplace wall, and modified an old log home beam for the mantle.
